My initial contact with Subud was through an uncle when I was 16 years old. As a university student at age 20, I received my opening in October 1971 coinciding with Mas Prio Hartono’s trip to the Americas and have been active in Subud ever since.

I have been Subud group president in my home town Cali, Colombia, local, regional and national helper, Kedjiwaan Councilor, national representative for Subud Brotherhood International Foundation – Social and Humanitarian. I am on the Board of Directors of the Fundación Amanecer, was a zone 8 rep and national SD representative for Colombia.

Professionally I am an active medical psychiatrist, and have worked during several periods of my life in disaster prevention, preparedness and relief. I supported the Crisis Intervention team for 240 children after the Armenia earthquake. I look forward to working with the very prepared and professional group of Foundation trustees, bringing to this team the joy that I feel for this opportunity to be part of the continued growth of Subud.

Trustee
2016 - 2020

I began my path in Subud in early 1975, while still a college student in Chicago. After receiving the Latihan, I knew I would never inwardly need anything else. And while my life has taken many turns, professionally and personally, that is still true.

I grew up in New York City, lived for 27 years in Fairfield, Connecticut, and now reside in Washington, D.C. Professionally, I am a writer who worked for nearly thirty years in the broadcast news industry. Several years ago I shifted into higher education, where I specialize in biomedical communications and public affairs.

I’m grateful and deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve as a trustee of the foundation that bears Bapak’s name. A few years ago, I received that Bapak was still a real, almost physical presence on the Muhammad Subuh Foundation board, and that we needed to give him a seat at the table. I pray that Bapak’s guiding wisdom will be with us always.

I have been in Subud since 2002, although I have known about the organization since infancy, through my parents. How grateful I am of finding this path (or this path finding me) is beyond words, and it is the main reason I think working for Subud is a great honor, as a way of contributing to the maintenance, growth and long-term development of Subud.

Currently working in the sportswear market, where I combine my business management and fashion design studies as Merchandising Manager, I have also been active in nonprofit organizations such as Fundación Espondilitis Chile, where I was chairperson, and INFOCAP, that trains underprivileged communities and workers. In Subud I have been Youth representative for Chile, and part of WSA Board as Zone 9 representative.

What motivates me the most of working in the MSF is the sincere purpose of the foundation of supporting the WSA through funding, to enable Subud members to practice the Latihan, and to promote cultural, educational, social and humanitarian work for the community.
