“And because Bapak's guidance, which was touched by God, must be passed on to other people, we are obligated, even if it is only something small, to give something.  Some contribution or reminder, because what you give won't just be for yourself, but later for your children who will continue Subud."

Donor Quotes

“As Bapak said many times, we are Subud. My feeling about following the guidance of the latihan is that I definitely want to give as much as possible to make sure the latihan is carried out into the world, especially to those countries that need resources to receive houses, helper visits, and publications.”Anonymous donor

Being in a position of not having heirs, I wanted to give what I could give to that which has given the most to me. Subud really is my spiritual family, and I wanted to leave something for posterity.”Anonymous donor

"One of the challenges of material wealth is to recycle some of it and keep it moving. This isn't totally selfless because we know that if we give in the right way, we get things back. It's really an issue of keeping things balanced and healthy for yourself and the community at large.”

Many Subud members around the world are motivated to turn their sincere hopes for Subud into reality. Some will do this through their projects and service, and others by providing financial support. The Muhammad Subuh Foundation is a link between the two, serving as an investment and funding vehicle for the development of Subud. It is a means of channelling money between those who have the need to give and those who have the need to do.

Why use MSF as your preferred Subud donation vehicle?

Whether for short- or long-term impact or both, MSF donors are assured that their financial support is used in the best possible way, and in accordance with their wishes. With over twenty years’ experience in investments and grantmaking, the Muhammad Subuh Foundation has detailed procedures and guidelines in place to offer a secure giving environment, with regular monitoring and assessment of grant disbursements. The Foundation watches over your financial support to other Subud organizations and activities on your behalf, so that you can feel confident your donations are being used wisely and prudently to achieve maximum impact.

The Foundation also adheres to the Donor Bill of Rights established by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. This Bill of Rights provides donors with a list of standards they should have every right to expect when contributing to a foundation or organization.

For over two decades, our donors have partnered with the Muhammad Subuh Foundation to help establish, or improve, more than 32 Subud houses in 21 countries; most of these cities would not have Subud premises if it weren’t for you. In addition, your contributions have provided financial support to the World Subud Association, its projects, and related organizations since 1996, totalling more than US$1.9 million.

As we begin our fundraising drive to save and preserve the Subud archives, we look to you for support. We remain dedicated to working together with you for generations to come!

Ways of Giving

The very origins of the Muhammad Subuh Foundation reside in dream of Varindra Vittachi about which Bapak explained that one day such a foundation would exist to which Subud members could leave a portion of their assets for the benefit of the development of Subud. In addition, MSF recognizes the importance of annual contributions to local and national centers and does not wish to compete with, or undermine, these vital fundraising initiatives, but to work in tandem with them.

There are many ways to make a gift to the Muhammad Subuh Foundation, and these are described in full in the Endowment section of this website. The information provided is intended to help make members aware of their options should they wish to support Subud through a contribution entrusted to MSF. It is not intended to be taken as final tax or legal advice since that can vary widely from country to country. Please consult a qualified financial advisor and/or lawyer before making a substantial gift to MSF.

MSF has four established funds, which offer some diversity of choice for prospective donors:

General Fund: Proceeds from the General Fund go to worthy projects in all areas, based on needs identified by the Foundation trustees. The General Fund is structured such that trustees are able to spend not only the investment income but also 15% of its capital each year. This policy reflects Bapak’s saying that “unless water is removed from the well, no more can flow in.”

Farkas Fund: This permanent fund is for the purpose of supporting children’s projects and increasing the distribution of Bapak’s and Ibu Siti Rahayu’s talks.

Bapak Legacy Fund: This fund is a permanent endowment fund in which only the interest can be disbursed for projects and activities, as deemed appropriate by the World Subud Association at a convening Subud World Congress.

Parker Fund (also known as the Subud Australia Fund): This endowment was established for the benefit of the development of Subud houses in Australia.

Enterprise Contributions

Bapak reminded us many times that progress in fulfilling Subud’s humanitarian and other aims in the world would only be possible through enterprise contributions. As the “go-between” or “intermediary body” the Foundation can assess, with the assistance of the appropriate organization, the many Subud projects around the world that seek funding at any one time. In this way, MSF provides a vehicle through which entrepreneurs can confidently channel their funds knowing that they will be applied to the best long-term interests of Subud.

There are a number of ways to make enterprise contributions: donations via the credit card facility of this site, regular bank transfers to MSF accounts, and the commitment of a portion of your annual turnover to MSF. Some entrepreneurs support the Foundation on a continuing basis by transferring shares so that their contribution to MSF is directly related to the fortunes of their companies.

How to make a credit card donation online:

MSF has partnered with Network for Good to process our online donations. Network for Good has created a secure, convenient donation system that makes it possible to give to any charity anywhere, anytime, online. You can earmark your gift to support the activity or fund of your choice. Please click on the Donate Now button.

Network for Good ensures that your credit card information is handled in a secure manner. Even though there is a small transaction fee involved (3%), the cost of using Network for Good is less than the cost of setting up an independent secure credit card system on our website. Also, using Network for Good allows us to accept money internationally. Please consider adding 3% to your donation to offset the transaction fee.

When you make a contribution through Network for Good, we receive a record of the amount and what the donation was for, but MSF does not handle any of your credit information.

When you make a larger donation, over $500, the transaction fee becomes more significant. In this case, it may make more sense to send your donation by cheque or bank transfer:

Because MSF is registered as a non-profit corporation in the United States, US citizens can get a tax deduction on their donations. Other people may be able to receive a tax deduction by donating through their national committee, as in Subud Canada for example, where Canadian Subud donors may take advantage of tax benefits when funding Subud houses, their renovation, and maintenance; the preservation, translation and dissemination of Bapak’s and Ibu Rahayu’s talks; the maintenance of the international archives; and, the writing of the history of Subud.

The Muhammad Subuh Foundation is registered as a non-profit organization in Virginia USA:
U.S. Tax ID Number: 52-1742864

The Muhammad Subuh Foundation will acknowledge your donation and send you a receipt and news to keep you in touch with the Foundation. MSF provides charitable tax receipts for donors from the USA.

Any questions?

All donations serve to strengthen the development of Subud. Thank you for your generous support!
